Marvin
Still Haunts The Widow's Tavern
The
resident ghost (Marvin), at The Widow’s
Tavern & Grille, was the innkeeper in the time
when the the old stagecoach stop was an inn
of somewhat ill repute. It is told that he had an
affair with one of the “house ladies” and then
was jilted. One version of the story says that he
killed her, and then hung himself in the
hotel.
Over the years, there have been many
“Marvin-Like-Sightings"
John Nyari and his father were the owners
of Widows and recant the story of the
staff members working one night who
saw a white shadow descending the steps.
And then the waitress, Connie Bath who recalls
the eerie experience of three waitresses working
on the same Valentine night who each reported mysterious blood splotches
on their uniforms.
Shannon Flutter worked at Widow’s for 15 years.
One evening she was ringing up checks at the
basement door, when she turned around to notice
that the door handle in the basement turned, There
was no one there, and no one on the steps.
She froze, scared out of her wits, but there was
no one there, no one at all.
The most incredible Marvin sighting is the story told by the cleaning
lady who was in the tavern with the manager. The doors were all
locked. Suddenly the cleaning lady noticed an old man in tattered
clothes sitting at the bar drinking beer from a stein. She assumed
the manager had let him in. She asked the manager, and he said he
hadn’t let anyone in. The doors were still locked, and no
one could have entered. When she returned to the bar the old man
was gone.
Sometimes the lights go on and off at will, doors swing, and a photo
was taken by a customer with a distinct silouette of an unseen person
near the subject. And even now, strange occurances prevail and will
as Marvin continues to call the Widow's Tavern and Grille his earthly
home. |
